Dr. Susan Fisher recieves many referrals from neuro-ophthalmologists to help patients with Diplopia. Diplopia is when you see two images of the same object(s). It is commonly known as double vision. Diplopia can occur in one eye or both eyes. More often than not, double vision in both eyes can be more serious than just in one eye.

If we suspect an ocular condition or disease,
we will immediately schedule or perform
diagnostic tests to determined our next steps.

Prism Lenses for Double Vision
If you suffer from double vision, we may be able to help you. Eyeglasses with prism lenses can help keep your eyes focused and on target, remarkably improving your vision.

A prism for eyeglasses is a flat, transparent surface that bends light coming into your eyes. Some people suffer from double vision caused by their eye, or eyes not focusing on the same location.

Adding a prism correction to eyeglass lenses bends light traveling into the eye in such a way that it aligns what each eye is seeing thus eliminating the double image interpreted by the brain so you can see clearer.

Fresnel Prism for Double Vision
Fresnel Prisms are "stick-on" lenses that adhere to the surface of your exsisting eyeglass lenses.

They provide a temporary system for creating prismatic and spherical corrections. If Dr. Fishers concludes that you can benefit from Fresnel stick-on Prism lenses, then it would be a simple, therapeutic and inexpensive way to correct several visual disorders.
EYE EXAM

The reason we may prescribe a Fresnel Prism is to help relieve double vision. A prism will move the position of one of the images that you see to join the two images that you see so you can achieve a single image.

A Fresnel Prism is made from lightweight plastic, which can be easily fitted to your existing eyeglass lenses. They come in a variety of strengths. They are used as a temporary treatment if your double vision is expected to change over time, or as a trial before a more customized permanent prism lens can be prescribed for new eyeglass lenses.
